Work

I've spent the last 10 years doing product engineering at DNSimple, a domain and DNS company. Here are two projects told in full, and posts about other parts of the work.

  1. What am I paying for?

Customers kept asking support what they were paying for, what they were paying with, and how to stop. I redesigned the account page around those three questions, reworked it after review, and shipped the second take.

  2. Removing Vue, one component at a time

JavaScript was about 3% of the app's code and the main source of its security advisories. I removed Vue from the app without changing anything customers saw.

  3. Support scorecard

We had thousands of tagged support tickets and still couldn't say what hurt customers most. So I built something that could.

  4. Turning vague ideas into shippable projects

Most of my work happened before anyone wrote code, turning messy requests into problems a team could actually ship.

  5. Educational comics

Comics that explain how DNS, HTTPS and DNSSEC work. A few hundred people read them every month, in about 20 languages, and there's a quiz and a game.

Before DNSimple

I made a programming podcast, a TDD Tamagotchi, a pair-programming game, videos about TDD, videos about frontend, ebook covers, and organized meetups.
